Using InetSoft's reporting software, users can edit registered reports for large scale and custom distribution options. View the information below to learn more about the Style Intelligence solution.
The definitions of all the registered reports are stored in the registry file named repository.xml. Definitions from multiple repository.xml files can be edited in the Enterprise Manager if you manually change the replet.repository.file property in the sree.properties file. Each repository must be separated in the list by a semicolon. All replets registered in these multiple repositories will be available under the 'Repository' node.
A new report can be registered (deployed) by clicking on the 'New Report' link, which appears below the navigation tree. This opens the 'Report Definition' page, which consists of four tabs on the bottom of the page. These are Report, Options, Parameter, and Security.
Click the Report tab at the bottom of the screen to access the report definition page.

Case Study: Revolutionizing Operations with Report Distribution Software – A Sweater Manufacturer's Journey
SweaterWorld, a medium-sized sweater manufacturing company, has been a cornerstone of its industry for over 30 years. Specializing in high-quality knitwear for diverse markets, including retail chains, boutique stores, and online platforms, SweaterWorld prided itself on craftsmanship and design. However, as the business expanded, operational inefficiencies began to creep in. Managing production schedules, inventory levels, and supply chain logistics became increasingly complex. Reporting processes, essential for decision-making, were particularly cumbersome, relying on manual data gathering and Excel-based summaries.
In 2022, SweaterWorld decided to adopt a report distribution software system to streamline its reporting processes, improve data accessibility, and enhance operational efficiency. This case study delves into the company's challenges, the solution they implemented, the outcomes, and the lessons learned.
The Challenge
SweaterWorld's success came with growing pains. As the company expanded to serve more markets and diversify its product line, its operational complexity grew exponentially. Several specific challenges emerged:
-
Manual Reporting Processes The company relied on Excel spreadsheets and email chains to compile, distribute, and analyze reports. This method was time-consuming, prone to errors, and lacked real-time updates.
-
Delayed Decision-Making Managers often waited days or even weeks for accurate reports on production output, sales performance, or inventory levels. These delays led to inefficiencies in addressing production bottlenecks and market demands.
-
Data Silos Departments like production, sales, and inventory management operated independently, leading to fragmented data. This lack of integration resulted in inconsistent reporting and miscommunication between teams.
-
Limited Scalability As SweaterWorld scaled up its operations, the existing reporting processes became a bottleneck, unable to keep up with the growing data demands.
Recognizing the need for change, SweaterWorld's management decided to modernize its reporting infrastructure by implementing a report distribution software system.
The Solution
After evaluating several solutions, SweaterWorld chose a report distribution software platform known for its user-friendly interface, real-time capabilities, and integration flexibility. The software allowed automated data aggregation, report generation, and distribution, significantly reducing the reliance on manual processes. Key features included:
-
Automated Data Aggregation The software integrated with SweaterWorld's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and supply chain management systems to pull data in real time. This eliminated the need for manual data entry and ensured accuracy.
-
Customizable Dashboards and Reports Users could customize reports based on their specific needs, whether for production metrics, sales performance, or inventory levels. Dashboards provided a visual overview of key metrics for quick insights.
-
Real-Time Updates Reports were automatically updated as new data became available, enabling managers to make timely decisions.
-
Secure, Role-Based Access The software offered role-based access controls, ensuring that sensitive data was only accessible to authorized personnel.
-
Multi-Channel Distribution Reports could be distributed automatically via email, mobile apps, or the web portal, ensuring that stakeholders received updates in their preferred format.
Implementation Process
SweaterWorld approached the implementation in four phases:
-
Assessment and Planning The company conducted a thorough assessment of its reporting needs, identifying pain points and areas for improvement. Stakeholders from different departments were involved to ensure the solution met diverse requirements.
-
Software Integration The report distribution software was integrated with SweaterWorld's existing systems, including their ERP, inventory management system, and production tracking software. IT teams worked closely with the vendor to ensure a smooth setup.
-
Training and Adoption Employees underwent training sessions to familiarize themselves with the new software. The training emphasized how to create and access reports, interpret data, and customize dashboards.
-
Go-Live and Feedback The software was rolled out in stages, starting with key departments like production and sales. Feedback from users was collected to address any challenges and refine the setup.
The Results
The implementation of the report distribution software yielded transformative results for SweaterWorld:
-
Increased Efficiency Automating the reporting process saved employees countless hours previously spent on manual data collection and formatting. Production reports that once took two days to compile were now available instantly.
-
Improved Decision-Making Real-time access to data allowed managers to identify issues and opportunities more quickly. For example, inventory shortages that previously caused production delays were now flagged in advance, enabling proactive reordering.
-
Enhanced Collaboration With integrated data and standardized reports, departments were no longer working in silos. Production teams could align with sales forecasts, and inventory managers could track stock levels more accurately.
-
Cost Savings By streamlining operations and reducing errors, SweaterWorld achieved significant cost savings. Over the first year, the company reported a 15% reduction in production downtime and a 10% increase in on-time order fulfillment.
-
Scalability for Growth The new system could handle the increasing complexity of SweaterWorld's operations as the company continued to expand. Adding new product lines or markets no longer created reporting bottlenecks.
Challenges and How They Were Addressed
Despite the success, the implementation process was not without challenges:
-
Resistance to Change Some employees were initially hesitant to adopt the new software, fearing it would complicate their workflows. This was addressed through comprehensive training and emphasizing the benefits of automation.
-
Data Migration Issues Integrating legacy data with the new system was complex and required additional resources. SweaterWorld partnered with the software vendor to ensure a seamless migration.
-
Initial Learning Curve While the software was user-friendly, some employees needed time to adjust. Ongoing support and accessible help resources eased the transition.
Lessons Learned
SweaterWorld's experience with implementing report distribution software offers valuable insights:
- Involve Stakeholders Early: Engaging representatives from all departments ensures that the solution meets diverse needs and fosters buy-in.
- Invest in Training: Proper training is essential for smooth adoption and maximizing the software's potential.
- Choose Scalable Solutions: Selecting a platform that can grow with the company saves time and resources in the long term.
- Monitor and Refine: Regular feedback and system updates ensure that the software continues to meet evolving requirements.
