Fern Plastic Products, a 52-year old injection moulding company, chose InetSoft’s business intelligence solution to deliver KPI dashboards and real-time reporting alongside their Baan ERP system. Previously Fern extracted data used from their Baan ERP system and manually created KPI graphs and matrix style reports. The manual manipulation of data in Excel spreadsheets created a time consuming process that had the potential for inaccuracies in the presentation of the data.
Fern uses Style Intelligence to mashup data from their Baan ERP system and other operational data sources enabling interactive dashboarding, analysis and reporting functionality. Operational reports are now automatically sent to each manager on a daily basis. Month-end reporting processes have been automated, and data governance has been greatly improved. The company is delighted with the results they are re getting out of InetSoft’s Style Intelligence – real-time, instant access and visibility, 24/7.

The process of generating the management information pack was taking us as a team on average 6 hours a week to generate the various elements to the pack. Now they have that valuable time back.. In addition, now they we can see their KPIs whenever they need to. This was only available and up to date once a week beforehand. With InetSoft, Fern has create a robust BI platform that generates more value out of their Baan ERP system. They have noted it to be a flexible, easy-to-use BI toolset.
Grupo Multimedios, one of the largest media and entertainment companies in Mexico, selected InetSoft’s Style Scope in order to create sophisticated enterprise data visualizations that summarize sales and operations data for top executives. For several years, Multimedios had struggled to create executive performance management dashboards using spreadsheets, pivot tables, and other BI tools. Although the dashboards they created reflected the KPI's that needed to be shown, they were visually cluttered with lots of numbers, making it difficult for the end-users to effectively understand and manipulate the data.
The company began looking into new BI tools that would be both easier to use and visually appealing, and it chose InetSoft. They found one of the advantages of the tool is that they were able to started using it from the very beginning without major changes in the extracted data. Using Style Scope from InetSoft the company gained the ability to provide a graphical representation of key data to top management right ‘out-of-the-box’ and move from static tables of numbers to charts and graphics that are much easier to understand. Before the use of Style Scope, it took them months to build KPI dashboards that were simple enough to manage by end-users. Now in a couple of days they can customize several graphic views. They have found that even end users have been building their own reports without IT intervention. With InetSoft tools, they’ve been able to create consolidated sales figures very easy and quickly.
Flight Data Services (FDS), a provider of a fully comprehensive flight data monitoring service to commercial and private aircraft operators, selected InetSoft’s Style Intelligence to provide its customers with custom interactive reporting derived from black box flight data. Translating this raw data into operational business intelligence is an integral part of an aircraft operator’s safety program. Identifying trends and fully investigating circumstances behind minor incidents enables safety managers to improve operational procedures and training, raising awareness of safety issues within the operation and assisting management to make informed business decisions.
Style Intelligence has allowed FDS to provide its customers with a secure report portal from which they can instantly and interactively generate their own reports and drill down into data. They were very selective, having looked at about a dozen similar products. In the end, it was an easy choice because other offerings were unable to meet their fundamental requirements. FDS selected InetSoft on the basis that the product integrated well with their applications and business processes.
In addition, and unique amongst similar solutions, the InetSoft products provided static as well as dynamic reporting, enabling our customers to investigate their data against pre-determined measurables. This functionality has provided their customers with a powerful benchmarking tool to determine how many similar events have occurred over an established period, and whether they are increasing or decreasing in regularity, effectively measuring their safety programme against past performance.
PNGC Power selected InetSoft’s Style Intelligence for its information reporting needs. PNGC Power is an electric generation and transmission cooperative that provides its members increased market presence, the ability to optimize loads and resources, and business management tools such as cost-of-service analyses. The primary users of the Style Intelligence BI platform have been PNGC Power business analysts and economists responsible for analyzing, modeling and reporting on metered power usage data to member utilities. Business users have enjoyed a new level of self-service by making data access requests directly to the PNGC data warehouse, whereas they formerly relied on IT assistance for many regular reporting requirements.
The business case for this kind of self-service reporting software was clear given the bottleneck the cooperative had in its data access processes. They needed to reduce their reliance on IT for basic access to information that the staff depends on to serve the coop's members. They evaluated several options including developing a solution internally, but given the reasonable initial investment, broad functionality, and ease of use of the software, they chose InetSoft. They were particularly interested in the data grid caching technology built into the application, and were excited to see the system in action.
