InetSoft's "Style Report" is a Java report writing software application that has earned the Java Developers Journal Readers Choice Award for best Java Reporting Tool eight years consecutively. Style Report enables enhanced query, reporting, and analysis capabilities with real-time access to data regardless of source, format or platform. What you will see below is that it is also an easy report writer to use. A combination of point-and-click, drag-and-drop, and drop down menus allows users to create highly visual and accurate reports in just minutes, not hours.
The Ad Hoc tool allows you to create new reports from scratch by using a step-by-step wizard. Below is a screenshot of the four different report wizards included in InetSoft's report writing software:
The chart is a widely used fundamental factor in data presentation. It displays data in an illustrative form and is very useful to channel inferences of certain data in a concise manner. This is much more easy to understand than a table of numbers in a spreadsheet.
A crosstab is a very pragmatic way to compile information in a tabular format. Grouping can be done vertically and horizontally, creating a grid of data.
A table is another standard element used in most reports to exhibit data. You can also aggregate the data, and compute subtotals and grand totals. There are also Crosstab and Section Wizards which provide similar returns.
A section is yet another very useful unit in report design. A section consists of bands. Each band is a container that holds steady position elements. At the elementary level, a section can display the same data as a table, but also give you control over the position and size of each cell. An advanced user can develop a segment that contains tables and charts to create a master-detail subreport.
