Dashboard Software for Accessing SQL Databases and Data Warehouses
Are you looking for software for accessing SQL databases and data warehouses? InetSoft offers Web-based BI software that can mashup data from these and other sources for dashboard reporting.
Implications of Mashup Technology for Enterprises - Let's talk about this enterprise implication. Large organizations have lots of rules and regulations, and there are reasons for all that stuff. We hear all about data governance these days and obviously it's a big deal, especially for public companies because they have to report on this stuff, and the stock market goes up and down depending on what people hear about things so it’s important. But what do you think are some critical implications of mashup technology with respect to the sort of protocols or processes of large enterprises...

Importance of Data Mash-Up - Data mash-up is another concept that I think is really very important and I think that this is certainly a new trend: this ability to avoid what I call the “duct tape” of Business Intelligence. And unfortunately many of us are still using Excel for a lot of our Analytics. We have these PAT spreadsheets that do certain computations or mash-up information from one sheet to another and have all these wonderful macros in it. But the problem is that we are doing analytics in an area where we don’t have the power that we truly need and we have spend an awful lot of money on these wonderful analytic platforms but we are not integrating Excel with that or data from other sources for that matter. There has been a lot of research done that the longer it takes to make a decision the less impact it might have on your enterprise around the business process that you are attempting to apply it to. And over time the value declines and the opportunities can be lost. Real-time analytics is ability to ingest Big Data and make decisions on it faster and smarter are certainly something that it would be a key benefit for getting awesome value from Big Data so use tools that support the reduction of data and analytic and decision latency. Don’t settle on tools that take too long or take too much IT interference to get the answers from...

Information Integration Platform - We have always believed that an information integration platform has to be holistic. That doesn’t mean that it includes all the functions and has to replace what you have already got. . It’s holistic in the context of being able to leverage all of the investments you have already made but still be able to virtualize data services across them. So we obviously have to think about connectivity to a broad range of sources from structured all the way to highly unstructured...
Information Technology and Spreadmarts - So spreadmarts cause lots of problems, multiple versions of the truth. They waste a lot of time and money of the analysts, well waste a lot of time of the analyst who spent up to two or three days a week just creating these spreadmarts on a regular basis. Spreadmarts are originally created for one-time analyses. It's a one-time analysis that’s turned into a regularly produced report, which has to be manually created each time. So that ends-up wasting a lot of money in the form of wasted time of this analyst...

In-Memory Analytics Data Access - There are some technologies out there that are certainly helping, and In-Memory Analytics is one of them. There is this great opportunity now for us to do our Analytics a bit faster than what we used to. We don’t have to rely upon the spinning hard drives as much, there are sophisticated systems that are doing a great job of putting a lot of the information in-memory so that it's able to be accessed quicker and faster and gives us a much faster speed to discovery. But I will caution that you want to look for systems that perhaps offer In-Memory Analytics but also offer you the other side which is this ability to have direct access and flexibility when trying to get to the data. Because often times having a granular approach to the Analytics or to the intelligence that we are trying to get our hands on it is equally as important as our roll-ups and aggregates and all of that. I recommend that when you are looking at some of these technical advancements, especially around In-Memory Analytics, that you take advantage of that but at the same time look for systems that will allow your users or your analysts to reach out into the information, so hybrid solutions can certainly give you lot more value...
Integrating ERP and Business Intelligence - In the last few years we have seen Oracle acquire Hyperion and SELinux and IBM acquire Cognos and SAP acquire Business Objects and Outlooksoft. Clearly those firms think there is value in the integration. I would like to talk a little bit about the benefits to be gained by better linking ERP and Business Intelligence, and why ERP vendors are acquiring the BI vendors the value in such integration. Let’s start off right away with Oracle and SAP: the two largest ERP vendors. They realized that BI solutions can help companies unlock the value of the data within ERP systems. ERP’s value has traditionally been in the standardization of business processes and providing a transaction audit trail and helping companies comply with regulatory requirements. ERP was considered necessary infrastructure. BI, Business intelligence or reporting and analytics can integrate, manipulate and present sets of data contained within these systems...

JavaScript Debugging Hints - Even though the Script Editor makes scripting fast and convenient, the JavaScript language poses its own special challenges. One of the biggest challenges is debugging. Unlike strongly typed languages, JavaScript does not have fixed type for variables, which means that no compile type error checking can be done. This chapter offers a few tips and hints on how to deal with debugging in JavaScript. 1. Keep the Script Small The smaller the code, the easier it is to debug if anything goes wrong. Since scripts are normally used to perform relatively simple calculations, there is little reason to introduce complicated structures or organizations. Use functions and the Script Library to help keep your code concise...
